Dragon Scale Armor
Similar to Dragonhide armor outlined in the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, this armor is crafted from the hide and scales of a dragon. One dragon can be used to create a masterwork suit of Dragon Scale for a creature one size category smaller than the dragon. The color/type of dragon grants the armor itself immunity to the appropriate energy type (not the wearer though).
Dragon Scale Armor is considered light armor, with no movement penalty. The armor bonus is equal to half the dragon’s natural armor, rounded down.
The max dex bonus, armor check penalty, and arcane spell failure are dependent on the age of the dragon (see chart below).
Dragon Scale armor is always considered Masterwork for purposes of enchanting.
Since dragon scale armor is custom crafted for the wearer, anyone else attempting to wear dragon scale (of the same size category as the original owner) suffers a -5 to their Armor Check Penalty, +10% Arcane Spell Failure, and can only use half the Maximum Dexterity Bonus. Retro-fitting a suit of Dragon Scale usually costs 50% of the armor’s cost.
Cost: Since the nature of the armor itself varies depending on the creatue from which its hide was taken, the costs are variable. The base cost is 4,000gp (1,000gp if the dragon body is supplied)per age category plus 150gp per natural armor bonus of the dragon iteself (not the 1/2 modified AC).
